Just Cook Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 8, 2026

Just Cook is a Chrome extension designed to display online recipes in a clean, easy-to-read format, save recipes to a personal list, and allow users to send recipes to their phone using a QR code.

Data Collection

Just Cook does not collect, track, or sell any personal information.

Recipe history and user preferences (such as saved recipes and app settings) are stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us.

To enable optional phone syncing, recipe content (including title, ingredients, instructions, and images) may be temporarily stored in a secure database for up to 24 hours before being automatically deleted.

No browsing history, personal identifiers, or account data are stored.

How Data Is Used

Locally stored data is used solely to display your saved recipe list and remember your preferences within the extension.

Temporarily stored recipe data is used solely to allow users to view the recipe on their phone after scanning the QR code.

Third-Party Services

Just Cook uses Firebase as a temporary storage service for syncing recipes between devices. Data is automatically deleted within 24 hours.

The extension may open third-party websites including Amazon Fresh and the Chrome Web Store when the user explicitly requests these actions. Just Cook does not share any user data with these services.

Data Security

Reasonable technical measures are used to protect temporary recipe data stored via Firebase. All other data remains locally on your device and is never transmitted.

Changes

This policy may be updated occasionally. Any changes will be reflected on this page.
